Budapest Markets
Budapest, Hungary - 2022 Danube River cruise. Budapest has several major markets and we visited two of them.
The Great or Central Market Hall is in downtown Budapest close to the Danube and cruise ship docks. It was originally constructed in 1897, badly damaged in WWII and restored in the 1990’s and is the most beautiful and largest of the Markets in Budapest. It has three floors with stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, dairy, meats, clothes, wines, souvenirs and much more. There are also food stalls and restaurants on the upper floor.
The Lehel Market is newer and somewhat unusual architecturally and replaced an old open market on the same site. It has lots of fruit and vegetable stalls, along with meats and dry goods and a few food stalls and restaurants.
